It's only been 18 months since we last released Kentucky Kilt, but it feels like ages as it's one of the most requested beers in our tasting rooms! Our fourth iteration of Kilt follows a similar path as years past, but as with every Alesong beer, it forges its own distinct vintage identity along the way. Beginning its life as our malt-forward Scotch ale, this version was matured in a variety of bourbon barrels before being blended in preparation for release to you. Barrels that once held George Dickel 14 Year Bourbon, Elijah Craig 18 Year Bourbon, and Henry McKenna 10 Year Bourbon all add their own unique character to the final blend. Notes of oak, vanilla, and bourbon layer perfectly on top of the caramel, toffee, and ripe fruit of the underlying Scotch ale.
