Engage with Alesong to Support Friends of Trees for April

Kicking off partnership with downtown tree walk and happy hour on 4/6

We are pleased to announce our Engage with Alesong charity partner for the month of April: Friends of Trees. The partnership kicks off on the afternoon of April 6th with a tree walk and happy hour at Alesong on 5th beginning at 4pm. Friends of Trees Eugene Director, Erik Burke, will lead the walk around the Market District, focusing on local tree history, climate change, native species, and tree equity in the urban forest leaving from Alesong on 5th at 4pm and returning for happy hour around 5pm where Friends of Trees representatives will be on hand to talk more about what they do and share some beers with Alesong customers.  A portion of every item sold on April 6th will be donated to Friends of Trees in addition to 25% of the entire month’s sales of Alesong’s farmhouse ale with spruce tips, Rolling Mist.

“We often take for granted the impact trees have on neighborhoods and communities and supporting the work that Friends of Trees does during the month of Earth Day just feels right.” says Alesong Co-founder, Doug Coombs. “And of course, what better beer to lead the donation than our beer made with spruce tips? Turns out trees are great in our beer as well as in our community!”

ABOUT THE ENGAGE WITH ALESONG PROGRAM: For the Engage with Alesong program, local organizations are nominated and voted on collectively by Alesong staff members to focus support to twelve different causes throughout the calendar year. Alesong will host these organizations for outreach events at their tasting room in the 5th Street Public Market each month and donate a portion of proceeds from a specific beer throughout the whole month to the organization.

ABOUT FRIENDS OF TREES: In September 2011, the Eugene Tree Foundation joined forces with Portland Metro based Friends of Trees to become our Friends of Trees Eugene Metro office! Serving the communities of Eugene and Springfield, Friends of Trees has partnered with thousands of volunteers to plant thousands of trees and native shrubs over the years. Friends of Trees recognizes that not everyone has equal access to the benefit of trees. As a community driven organization, we foster an atmosphere of inclusion and support, and we strive to build places that are safer and healthy for all. We accomplish this through authentic community conversation; unique partnerships; relevant programming; and attracting and retaining diverse staff and supporters.
